According to wowhead's information, this seems to be a unique quest for SoD. Did you choose the wrong flavor?

No, I'm playing Era. And this an item that has always been in Vanilla.

Look at the starter quest.

And check out the comments from 2006 talking about the follow up quest. (=

This is something I discovered on my Era toons: Quests that come from items cross complete both their SOD questID and non-SOD (original) questID.

You can blame Blizzard for being extremely dirty.

Hey @NORPG ,

Side note, I've found Wowhead's "Added In" to be (almost universally) really off and inaccurate.

It's more of a "last updated" really.

This item was added when they added all the quests in Winterspring back in the day. like 1.10 I think. But it still says "added in 1.13" -- WoWhead doesn't match the comments on WoWhead. (=

@DFortun81 no question they allowed a TON of SoD shit to bleed into Era. A TON.

Yes, the information about Classic Era on wowhead is not very accurate, and even the information about the previous expansion is not necessarily accurate.
This is also the key reason why input to att database needs to be manually confirmed.
Because of the limited number of wowhead maintainers, they only continue to revise a small amount of the latest information.

It's a shame that CMaNGOS is so out of date too, like honestly WoWHead and CMaNGOS both feel like a total waste of time in relation to Classic -- especially factoring in all the SoD item bleed.

But it feels like a lot of work to maintain curated databases. I bet the folks at Questie would be happy to share their updates if you reached out!

Talk to @BreakBB, I bet you guys can come up with a way to save a few steps! (=

Cheers!

The Questie database is open for everyone to use and ATT is already doing so for quite some time. That is not something that helps in this case though.

Same as with ATT though, Questie lists this as an SoD exclusive quest, because it was added as a replacement for 5124. Blizzard added a big amount of quests like this to SoD, to be able to alter the quest rewards for SoD.

If this quest is somehow now available on Anniversary servers and/or Era, then Blizzard either was floppy (like usually) or they did this on purpose (#nochanges lol).

Since you received https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=84495/fiery-plate-gauntlets @Gogo1951 can you check if you completed the SoD version of the quest or the Era version?

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=5124/fiery-plate-gauntlets vs https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=84495/fiery-plate-gauntlets

Hey @BreakBB & @NORPG ,

Wanna see something funky?! (=

image

I'm in Classic Era.

Going to make getting https://www.wowhead.com/title/the-seeker-81 a little easier, if every quest counts twice! Ha.

But seriously, I bet they made some sort of "alias" feature behind the scenes, "If you do X, you also get Y" -- so they didn't have to re-write any of the related quests. Makes for really messy data though.

As far as I know, @DFortun81 also discovered this on his live stream, but we don’t seem to have found any solution so far.
Blizzard has shared the quest database of SoD and Classic Era in the Classic Era. The quest that originally existed only in SoD has been mixed into Classic Era.
And although they are two different quest IDs, they share a completion indicator, which means that if you complete one of them, the other will also be marked as completed.

This is why you get a missed quest report.
I don't know if this should be added to the Classic Era database, but it would be very strange when we added.

I don't know what Blizzard is thinking, but I think this change is confusing for addon maintainers and creates a lot of strange work.
