System Details

  • OS: Arch Linux
  • Thorium Version 128.0.6613.189

Problem
When Thorium creates app icons, it deviates from upstream by naming them "thorium-(appid)" etc etc. On my system (KDE with Papirus-Colors icon theme), this causes some icon themes to use the icon assigned to "thorium" by mistake, instead of the app icon. It additionally breaks compatibility with Chrome app icons provided by the icon theme and not Thorium. Here's a comparison of the Reddit icon generated by distro Chromium vs Thorium:

Yes

Proposed Fix

Revert to upstream behavior for naming .desktop files generated by Chrome Apps, either just for the "Icon=" line, or for the file as a whole.
