DataGrid - binding to a property of an inherited class doesn't allow to edit its value

I have a base class which contains a common logic and couple of inherited classes that contains data representing as an array.

I want to populate data from DataGrid but I found no way to edit a value if property defined in a sub-class.

MCVE

    public class MainWindowViewModel : ViewModelBase
    {
        public MainWindowViewModel()
        {
            Simple = new[]
            {
                new Bar() as Foo,
                new Bar() as Foo
            };
        }

        public Foo[] Simple { get; }
    }


    public class Foo
    {
        public string A { get; set; }

        public string B { get; set; }

    }

    public class Bar : Foo
    {
        public string C { get; set; }
    }

The cast (as) here is intentional.

The behavior is different from WPF where it works as is.

Any workaround is welcome.

I could remove inheritance and create totally independent classes but it would be a lot of copy-paste code.

Workaround: make it generic

type ContainerVM<'t when 't :> Foo>(...)
