It seems the Kafka Trigger for JAVA does not support compression.codec and compression.type librdkafka configurations. What is the timeline for enabling this in the Azure Function Java Trigger for Kafka?

The base library librdkafka supports this. https://github.com/edenhill/librdkafka/blob/master/CONFIGURATION.md
