@angus-g noticed a bug in cf_xarray when during the process of creating the model agnostic tutorial #226:

xarray-contrib/cf-xarray#396

Seeing replies to that issue it is perhaps incorrect to characterise as a bug, so much as slightly confusing behaviour. Regardless, when there is a resolution of that issue the notebook should be updated to reflect that.
