$this->getInput('filter') produces strange results

There is a presumption that when I add a _GET argument of filter.. i.e.

https://example.com/Zermelo/Report?filter=something

that this is will work as expected.. but it appears that 'filter' is something that is used extensively by datatables? Not sure... if possible, this should be changed to 'datatables_filter' or something else so that end users are not confused by this problem...

If this is not possible to fix, then it needs to be documented somewhere..
