ive fought with it for my time than id like to admit, can the issue with running the game being launched from a mechanical drive be resolved? 5GB isnt a huge file to keep on an SSD but people have game (hard)drives for a reason, cheap bulk storage. i wouldve given up if i didnt have it working on a different pc. i feel this minor bug could pose an unintentional barrier to entry. ive resolved my issue but feel this is an issue which exist and it isnt clearly stated. even if the resolution is an amendment to the readme. on win11 the games seems to HAVE TO BE ON AN SSD
EDIT: it may be an issue of being on C:\ or the primary boot device, not sure. i boot from an ssd and keep my games on an hdd. regardless of what i did, if on the hdd, it froze after the first cutscene on the loading screen for welcome to bullworth VERY REPEATABLY

There is probably more to that, as I've been investigating this particular claim in the past - and the game loaded fine from an SSD, a HDD and an external USB 3.0 HDD.
system a(long working): 2 ssd installed on the non windows ssd, never had an issue
system b(newly setup): cheap ssd ebay hgst hdd. windows on ssd, hdd works for every other game in my library. kicked my butt up and down the street through 10+ fresh installs from steam, deleting the files each time. both steam/common AND user files.
read issue108.....
put it on the ssd, loaded in relatively quick. deleted the directory, uploaded the modded folder and accompanying saves from system a to ssd over anydesk..... loads right in first person and all. i tried this atleast 3x prior on the hdd to no avail.
on the hdd itd hang, 15% cpu(6 core), over 1GB ram, and no disk activity at all. loading..., welcome to bullworth, edna(?).
im not saying to chase the ghost problem but if it were in the readme itd be nice. if theyre here, they likely read the readme, and you could never have to listen to our dumb issues any further
idk
DISCLAIMER: users have reported the game hanging, freezing, and or crashing while loading a save after the exe is "alive" when installed on a hard drive(HDD). if you find yourself in this situation and you're able to, try putting it on a solid state drive(SSD)
EDIT: i can copy it over to the hdd, let it hang until it crashes, and send you a dump if you tell me where
