Thank you for sticking with me to get to the bottom of it! You helped me find 2 problems, one was a math error on my part made during the big update in v0.12.0, and the other a problem (possibly a bug) with my OrangePi Zero running Armbian.

Continue running the modified version you have now, I will publish v0.12.2 to fix this when I have time (might only be this weekend).

Also, would you be interested in beta testing interrupt support for MCP230xx devices using your bricklets?

At the moment I am good with the existing pins on the raspberry. But if it helps you to get that going I will be available (probably next year, because I will have to work on Xmas and New Year).

Unfortunately I even don’t see the state changes from the polling anymore

That was from a fried gpio chip, I accidentality applied 5V instead of 3.3V to the input pin.
I exchanged that Pi with my last Pi3b I had lying around.
But the testing results did not change, unfortunately ...

Have you had interrupts working with other software on any of the boards you're testing with?

No, it is the first time I am using I/O on a raspberry.
My old hardware (https://www.tinkerforge.com/en/doc/Hardware/Bricklets/IO16.html#io16-bricklet) is badly supported in openHAB2 and not supported at all in openHAB3, so I need to find another solution. Raspberry with its GPIO chip should be fine as I only need to switch a couple of relays and read two magnetic contacts for my garage door and the S0 Interface for my power meter.

I just now looked at those bricklet things... they are just an MCP23017 chip on a board with screw terminals. MQTTany supports MCP23017's.

And I have also just seen that they have migrated to a 7-pin connector and now use the SPI bus instead of I2C. Well if you have a way to connect your 10-pin io16-bricklets to any single board computer, MQTTany can make use of them.

Well feel free to make use of them if you need more pins! The only thing not yet available is the interrupt support. v0.12.0 brings us closer, as now any module can use GPIOs instead of just the GPIO module itself. If you do want to use the interrupt feature on them you could be a beta tester when I add it.
