Given that the only files that grive needs to ignore are .grive and .grive_state, would it not be better to avoid synchronising .grive* rather than .*? The current implementation prevents the use of encfs folders on Google Drive (as encfs stores important information in .encfs6.xml and this isn't pulled down by grive).
