Request to Include a License in Your Verilog Repository for ICCAD Competition Participation
Dear @Lcrypto,
I hope this message finds you well.
We are a team of researchers from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. We are participating in the LLM4HWDesign competition organized by ICCAD. The competition focuses on creating a dataset of Verilog files that can be used to improve large language models (LLMs) for the generation of Verilog code. This effort is part of a broader initiative to advance the technology and tools available to the hardware design and verification community.
During our preparation, we were thrilled to discover your GitHub repository. The work you've done in developing and sharing these Verilog files is truly commendable. It is contributions like yours that drive innovation and provide invaluable resources to both industry professionals and researchers alike.
However, we noticed that your repository does not currently include a license file.
This absence of a license file makes it unclear if we can legally use and redistribute your code. To make your code available for legal use in our competition and to the broader research and commercial communities, we kindly request that you consider adding an open-source permissive license file to your repository. The MIT License and the Apache License 2.0 are popular permissive licenses widely used in open-source projects that would enable us to use your code in the competition.
If you agree to add a license, we kindly ask you to fill out a brief Google Form that confirms your decision to do so of your own free will. Please use yout unique code - 22122351, while filling the google form. This step will help us ensure that your agreement is accurately recorded and that we can proceed with using your code in our dataset.
The inclusion of a license would not only benefit our specific project but also allow other researchers and developers to build on your work, driving further innovation in the field. Your decision to license your code could have a lasting impact, enabling more efficient and effective development processes across the community.
We deeply appreciate your contributions to the open-source community and would be grateful for your support in this endeavor.
If you have any questions about the process or if there is anything we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Team DRIVE teamdrive2024@gmail.com
