Some related issue was observed on a system in the HXN lab.

I took a pass at getting this to work and was having some issues getting it to build with in conda (do not remember what exactly, was playing with this at the EPICS meeting in Chicago).

I see. The compilation instructions from https://github.com/Blosc/hdf5-blosc/blob/master/travis-before-install.sh and https://github.com/Blosc/hdf5-blosc/blob/master/.travis.yml suggest we have to use cmake. I've never tried it.

cmake is pretty good (and @stuartcampbell is an expert 😈 ). I now have a vague memory that my issue was not knowing what values to set in CMAKE to convince it to install into conda prefix path. I did get it to build, put the artifact in the right place and saw that it worked.
