Opening a .drv file with nix-drv-mode gives me this error:

error: experimental Nix feature 'nix-command' is disabled; use '--extra-experimental-features nix-command' to override

Workaround: add nix-command to the experimental-features setting in either /etc/nix/nix.conf or ~/.config/nix/nix.conf
