You could edit the project in Visual Studio and replace the icon(s). With an image editor like GIMP you can open the ICO files and invert them from white to black or change the colour completely, that should make them more visible on your theme.
Could you provide a screenshot on how it looks? Maybe I can add a black
stroke around the icon or something similar

is there a way to change the icon? because on the old classic style in windows7 the icon is not the best choice :/
