synth/kit edit>song mode

if I am poking around in a kit or synth, & I'm done doing what I came to do, I hit the song button & nothing happens until I remember to 'back' out of edit mode.
it might seem that this is a prompt to save your work before exiting, but in reality it is just slowing me down.
anyone else?
I'd quite like there to be an autosave option; as soon as I leave edit mode, whether by returning to song mode or switching to another track, I want those changes to stick. maybe auto-increment the patch name, like it already halfway does.

I'm capable of living with the consequences of editing a patch & having the edited version affect the sound of other songs/arrangements, & in any case I am in the habit of cloning the presets I'm going to use so that they are already unique to that song.
