Often users want to download material to revisit later or to review while working offline. There are also users acting as research assistants, who are told to just "download everything that matches" for whoever they're working with.
In addition to being able to download (PDFs or TIFFs) at the individual object level within the viewer, the option to download objects from the search results page would be useful, time saving, (and COOL - I haven't seen this anywhere yet). This would allow users to download multiple objects without having to click into or open the individual object.
