It's been a while since I wrote full installation notes for Ubuntu, #57 (comment), and it seems like enough has changed that I need to sort this out again. Rather than opening up a new issue (or reopening an existing one) I'm going to start by organizing thoughts here.
I'll use the above install notes as my baseline.
We have seen in #118 that we should now add
-fallow-invalid-boz -fallow-argument-mismatch
to the FOPT line inMakeinc.linux64_gfortran_ubuntu
. That was able to clear up some issues at the time, though as stated there we aren't sure if that should be the "proper" fix. One way or another though this needs to be accounted for.#123 and #124 introduced an odd behavior that I'm not sure I resolved by
sudo apt install autoconf libtool pkg-config
. I say I'm not sure because my install still isn't working, I think it's past the point where this matters but it is still a variable. The problem I have now seems to be (checks notes) with the extlib libshp??
/home/gempak/gempak-7.19.0/extlibs/SHAPE/v1.2/shapefil.h
absolutely exists so I don't know why it's complaining.I'm attaching the full log, split with
split -l 250000 --additional-suffix=.log make.out makelog
to make github happy. My ultimate goal here is to sort out whatever my current problem is, then compile a new set of install notes for Ubuntu. But we should also probably make a choice or two RE the FOPT line and possibly better account for the automake deal if that ends up being related. Also couldn't help but notice I assigned to myself adding these notes to the internal documentation... let's just say it's been an eventful couple of years. 🤪
