Alter formatting behavior: spaces and pound signs

Our templates use tokens surrounded by pound signs, e.g. #token#.

When saving, VSCodium reformats that as #token # (with a space)

Is there a way to stop that behavior?

You can either disable the setting editor.formatOnSave or change the editor.defaultFormatter.

Yes, I did mean codium. Corrected.

So is this to say that there's no json file somewhere that I can put rule exceptions into? Changing the default editor just introduces different issues, and disabling formatOnSave isn't helpful.
