VAC won´t let me find match.

Description

Any moment I try to play, the Valve Anti Cheat system pops out and doesn´t let me find match. I´ve NEVER used cheats. I´ve veryfied the files of the game in Steam several times now and no changes.

#8381 this VAC message this is a common issue nothing to do with cheats. I never used cheats either. The last time this happened to me was when i only had 600 mb left memory? and I think still happen around 1.2 GB memory left.

I think something to do with overlays or background/duplicate processes that got interrupted or stopped because RAM/CPU has memory issues e.g. wrong memory pointer after dota update or out of memory.
Chatgpt say maybe outdated directX or other programs / third party tools interact with shaders and cause VAC to fail or flag unusual / suspicious behaviour if the game is not rendering properly.

e.g. try open task manager and check what your memory / CPU is like when running dota 2. is it always running at 99-100%?

reinstall windows, steam, dota2, verify files sometime doesnt help because cache files preserve your settings as a steam user so if these settings point to wrong memory / corrupted / has error you may keep getting error even after verifying. maybe need to disable steam cloud sync, delete cache. do disk cleanup, defrag, delete dodgy files etc then restart steam, verify integrity then re-enable sync?

have at least 4-6gb free space and for virtual memory in performance option. e.g. if set to 16gb and I only have 2 gb available then remaining 14 gb are not working until i free up more space.

I dont know much about pc, but my suggestion to fix this is to always start from something simple. e.g.:

1. Close steam and dota 2, restart it. If happens again, then..
2. Clean steam downloads cache. do disk clean up. defragment and optimise files.
   
   
3. Try again, if still happens.. then disable sync steam cloud in setting. Then go to steam storage > ... Repair library
   
   Browse files and delete 2 bin folders from
   path ~/Steam/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/game/dota/bin;
   path ~/Steam/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/game/bin
   verify game files after. suggested by VAC ban error without being VAC banned! #15625 also said to try install on another drive if available / delete steam (also delete its folder with leftovers) and same with dota if it installed on separate drive (delete whole game folder) and reinstall it (probably should be fine with deleting just game folder).
   VAC was unable to verify that your machine is secure #15776 said fixed by format disk where dota 2 installed. also noted that VAC happens when launching from pinned taskbar shortcut.
   Valve Anti-Cheat was unable to verify (FIXED) #15978 said re-install on different location but also said bug is back.
   i cant matchmake in dota2 #16042 said fixed by moving game to another disk. Then can move it back to original. But bug is back. also someone with linux said Had this issue across multiple installs. Tried removing DLC, already reinstalled once, already verified checksums. Both Native & Proton do not work. VAC works fine for Counter-strike 2 and everything else, DotA is the only game that won't let me connect to matchmaking. Clicking More Info doesn't open my browser.

   Valve anti-cheat (VAC) #20364 said tried reinstall dota / reinstall steam / reinstalled my video drivers / put steam and dota on 'run as administrator mode' / checked files / deleted bin and checked files. Still same error. try delete the bin folder from the Dota 2 file directory and reverify.

so maybe what you havent tried is to disable steam cloud sync then verify, and try restart steam dota and play 1 game to see it happen again while sync is off.
