RBJ and Matt L. had this conversation going on about the Cookbook filters and alternate formulae that approximate the analogue prototypes. A second set of filters fitting Matt L.'s design would be a valuable addition to the Cookbook, if that's possible.

i'm certainly not opposed to including Matt's or anyone's alternative recipes. For a second-order biquad, there are only 5 degrees of freedom (one of these degrees of freedom is the overall gain of the filter) and the Cookbook controls 4 of the 5. I think that Knud Christensen of tc electronic most concisely settled the issue in this paper and this patent.
But if Matt's design can be concisely spelled out (hopefully with closed form calculation of coefficients), that would be a real improvement.
