Am I allowed to modify and use themes generated by the Create Block Theme Plugin commercially?

ℹ️ My first answer wasn't correct. I'm updating the answer following the official WordPress project guidelines:

The license under which the WordPress software is released is the GPLv2 (or later) from the Free Software Foundation. A copy of the license is included with every copy of WordPress, but you can also read the text of the license here.

Part of this license outlines requirements for derivative works, such as plugins or themes. Derivatives of WordPress code inherit the GPL license.

There is some legal grey area regarding what is considered a derivative work, but we feel strongly that plugins and themes are derivative work and thus inherit the GPL license.

As long as you comply with these terms, you are more than welcome to use your themes in a commercial context.

This means:

1. Providing the source code of your modified version or the GPL-licensed software to the theme recipients.
2. Applying the GPL license to your modified version of the software that links to the GPL-licensed software, ensuring that recipients have the same rights to modify and distribute the software.
3. a. Including a copy of the GPL license with your product.
   b. and providing proper attribution to the original authors.
