Latest version of this extension is not compatible with Youtube in Firefox #687
Comments
Edit: wrong extension. I am using "Enhancer for YouTube" instead, not this one.
|
What version of the extension are you both using @rlwings @eduarddejong |
For me it's the latest version as I get automatic updates in Firefox (PC). Yeah it was working perfectly until about 2 weeks ago. It also broke a month ago but somehow it came back working for a while... Either Firefox updates and or YouTube updates causing a mismatch with your coding again. Sorry. I miss it so much. |
That doesn't help me at all I need you to check the extensions version in your browser. |
Yes, I was talking about the latest extension version in my Firefox
browser. Obviously if I get 'automatic updates' I should have the latest
push from you? No? You would know exactly what version it is. But since you
insist here it is... 1.27.0 Updated Oct 13, 2024

I was asking because I need to verify you are actually using my extension. Plenty of people confuse my extensions github for "enhancer for youtube" |
Okay. Didn't realize that. Sorry. Anyway, I hope you can find the issue and
correct it. You have an excellent extension! And I know which one you mean.
I also have the other one that sounds like your extensions name. Both have
issues but yours have fewer, LOL

It's okay, I will look into the issue as soon as possible @rlwings |
Hi! I have to say sorry! I fear you are right. 🤦♂️ |
it's okay |
Thanks a lot! - Ya, mainly the issue is when you want to open several
different videos in several different Firefox tabs from the user's account
algorhythm homepage. (Or from the right side-bar of 'suggestions'). We just
get a black screen in the video window. Or we get the video image but it
won't play. - Good Luck! - Awesome extension by the way! :) - Still
wondering if Ublock origin is conflicting somehow. But I turned it off to
test and it still happened.

thank you for providing more information |
One more thing I forgot to mention... Hovering over the video's thumbnail
no longer 'plays the video' within that thumbnail... Hope this helps.

thank you |
One more thing would it be possible for you to upload a video of the problem you are having occurring. |
Hello. So I went to make a video for you this morning concerning the issue
with the YouTube extension. And much to my surprise the issues have
disappeared again! This is a regular occurrence. A few weeks on, and a few
weeks off. Leading me to believe that possibly it has more to do with
firefox/youtube updates. And as I've mentioned possibly Ublock origin
interfering in some way. But Ublock origin is constantly updating it's
filters against YouTube ads, and YouTube is playing a game of cat and mouse
with ad blockers so I'm guessing it's something to do with that and maybe
not your extension. But I'll keep you posted as we move forward as I'm sure
it will break again. Sorry to bother you but something is happening on a
cyclical basis which I suspect has something to do with ad blocking
functionality in YouTube.

Thank you, I tested and didn't have the issue so that's why I asked for a video of it happening. |
Video will not play when trying to "Open link in a new tab" (Firefox). (Possible conflict with Ublock Origin?)
Try to "Open link in a new tab" by right clicking on a video link. After trying to open a few videos this way videos stop playing as they should (did).
