per binhex/arch-rtorrentvpn#165 the external_ip detection here is not reliable and can lead to unintentional IP spoofing/bugs in downstream projects by incorrectly setting the external IP to the IP of ns1.google.com

Is this a wireguard-specific bug? The VPN being tested is mullvad wireguard
