I am going to reiterate what @jdmedlock said in the announcements channel this morning.
A voyage is about collaboration and communication. It is about understand that YOU are accountable for the work that is assigned to you. It is about learning to understand that sometimes you have to ask for help, and other times you must offer to help!

What you will take home from this Voyage is entirely up to you, it will be over before you know it, so please please please take the time early on to build habits that keep us working well together. If you haven't already, friend your fellow voyagers on Discord and get to know eachother. Hold your teamates accountable if you haven't heard from them, give them a nudge. Pair program early and often especially before the Coding begins in Sprint 3!

Its the second day of the voyage. Not much coding honestly or any roadblocks just yet. I am excited to meet everybody though =)

Today after meeting with the team I wrote up a contributing guideline page to help developers understand how I envision the work flow. I’m hoping we can adopt this philosophy in our project to make my job easier when it comes time to merge. My biggest struggle at the moment is old computer syndrome.

Today I added some more "Must Haves" to the list existing list we have going and included some "Should Haves" and "Nice to Haves" for consideration.

My next plan of attack is:

• Review the agile methodologies document again :)
• Read the document contributing guidelines
• Set up the cloned group repo on my computer

I took the time to make copies of bits of conversation I felt was relevant into their respective discussion. I went through the MVP thread as well as the project requirements page to write several user stories. After writing User Story 9 I realized it will be quite tough to negate from the spreadsheet style design that they gave us in our requirements page, so I took a bit more time to replicate this design in Google Sheets. While it does not accomplish anything, I hope it helps in some way

Read some of the documents in discussion went over posts of teammates. I'm excited to learn more about best practices and how to be a better programmer. I am grateful for how structured the information is and just want to make sure I am able to absorb as much material as I can and contribute in a meaningful way!

• Today I deleted the fork that I originally made or our team repo and created a clone on my personal computer.
• Read the contributing guidelines document and made a pull request by adding my name to the contributors.md file.
  (I hope I did this right!!!)
• Reread the agile methodologies
• Contacted group in discord, asked Tasneem and Jayanti if they had availability on Tue or Wed to meet. I'm hoping to get sprint 2 meeting scheduled soon.

• Came up with rough draft for next team meeting and scheduled it for 1/17/24 @ 10:00AM -5 GMT (New York)
• Began a draft for the README.md file
• Created a new branch specifically for documentation
• Made a Wiki page on the work flow that I envision, the rhyme to my reason or method to madness.

• Met with Emmett to go over Git Work Flow.

• Merged documentation into development. Still need to merge development into main though!
• Created two EPICs and began creating issues around them.

• I'm sorry I didn't check in for the daily standup yesterday. One of our pets passed away and everything came to a grinding halt.

• Today, I Completed the sprint 1 check in form that I received by email.

• Reviewed the "Daily Tasks Project" list of items.

• Read about MVC - Model View Controller and found 2 short videos to share with the group

Summary of what I learned:
Model - Adds and retrieves data from database (ex: Json data)
View - Presents to the user how the application/page should look. There is no logic here (ex: HTML, CSS)
Controller - Received user input from view and translates actions to be performed on model (ex: JavaScript)

Model and view never "talk" directly. It is always the controller that works between them.

Today, met with the group for our 2nd sprint meeting.

Learning the work flow better, trying to learn more about math that is important to coding. I have been working a little with c++ and it makes me miss Javascript 🙃

Yesterday spent time with mikey learning the git flow and installing npm and webpack. he really helped a lot. I'm still learning git in a team environment...much different than solo git flow. learning ton.

• today i attended a scrimba boot camp workshop on more git commands from checkout, detached heads and getting back changes. Still got to practice to get this down.
• played around with forking my own local environment of our repository and played around with some code using javascript to code the html.
• attended chingu's meetup with jim and learned about htmx.

• Walked Amanda through some troubleshooting ultimately ended up re-cloning the repository on her local machine to fix an issue.
  • Use git fetch origin at the start of your coding session to mitigate the risk of this happening.
• I continue to notice that utilizing the terminal within VS Code is rare. This is one of the best features that separate
• I removed some "primary" branches that were for epics/issues/tasks that are in the backlog.
  • If you want to work on an issue that does not have a primary branch just create a "secondary" branch and work on code there, you can base your code off of the beta branch

• We had the Sprint 2 Review / Retrospective as well as a Sprint 3 check-in and even a Sprint IV Planning Session! I would say it was a very successful meeting =)
• I Hope to hear from @jayanti-neu and @WillCBurroughs soon! We are still here reaching out and the next few weeks are coding centric so your presence is highly valued.
• I forked the repository to work through some of the issues that will come. I was working on initializing the data and I noticed that the JSON file we were given is in a format that doesn't allow for easy sorting or even manipulation if we wanted to restructure the data with a map. I am happy to share
  tasks.model.json with the group from the forked version I am working on.

• Played around some with my fork some more. I made a JS Class to build tasks and created some methods on them to change them. I think this would be be a great approach for developers to store the user data within some sort of "state" while only leveraging vanilla JS.

Today we scheduled the meeting for Monday the 29 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm EST (GMT -5). This is great!

I have been taking a Agile Scrum class on Udemy and there is a Cheat Sheet I would like to share with you here.
Cheat+Sheet.pdf. I plan to add a couple more tasks tonight to the next week's epic.

There are a couple of things that stick out from the cheat sheet. The first is Daily Scrum which is intended to no more than 15 minutes where the development team gets together to keep each other updated. I do not need to be present for these meetings, but this should happen as frequently as possible. The other is that developers are self-managed, meaning they internally decide who does what, when, and how. I am noticing that there is not a whole bunch of communication and this hinders progress and is not following the Agile Methodology. Jim mentioned to us this morning on Discord that we are now halfway through the Voyage. Please do better at finding time to meet and discuss your progress as it is vital to our success.

I completed a draft for meeting notes. It can be found in the Wiki. I also created some tasks from User Stories this morning. Every User Story for Epic II does have at least one task associated with it. One may need to be broken into two but we can discuss that tomorrow.

I am happy that we are able to have the meeting earlier in the week this time. I hope we can finish up with #133 and close #59 . It is very important to focus on one goal at a time so we should not move on until this project goal is considered "done" by the team.

My Jeep broke down on me last night but I was able to fix it. Just had to lay in the mud for a few minutes. No blockers though =)

I saw that Mikey assigned me to an issue so I updated its primary branch, 205/task/local-storage, with alpha branch to bring it up to date.

What am I currently working on and what will I work on next?
I am reading about how to use local storage for our app. I used it for a countdown timer in another project I completed and I'm looking at that too to see what I can "glean" from the experience.
I have a pair coding meeting scheduled for today with Amanda and Jayanti at 2pm.

What issues or blockers do I need help with and from who?
I don't think I have anything that I'm in need of yet. If I run into a roadblock for this task, I will report back.

I worked on issue 154 with Mikey. I also had pair programming session with Stacy this afternoon where we got the rest of the html to show up on the page.

Issues 154 and 185 have been assigned to me, but I can definitely use some help with both of them.

First daily check in this week. This is my last day before going back to work. 10-12 hour days Mon-thurs. Still waiting for my furniture and house things to arrive. Been in Alaska for 3 weeks now, time change is different...GMT -9, so finding in challenging to attend meetings.

Had Fri, Sat and Sun off so hyper focused coding to get issues done.
Focused this weekend on issues 167, 168, 169, 170. Messaged with Jayanti about the issues and code.

Made PR for task completed markup and then another PR for a fix that allows user to mark off each task individually when complete and still allow user to mark off the project as being complete separate from the task completed.

Made PR for Modal popup for future adding of tasks. Open and close functions.

Today, Sunday, added checkoff boxes by tasks so user can click on and mark off tasks.
Add i icon for detailed information on tasks, static currently. Future may be able to code to auto populate.
Made PR to 66/epic/data-init to have more detail popup so user can see more details of task.
