Cost of Heroku Scheduler? #17
Comments
Denver used to have it configured with the free heroku scheduler and scheduled to run every 4 hours without incurring costs. I'll look into the current deployment and get back to you. Please add anything to the README you feel is missing, it is much appreciated! |
Thanks! Will do. Not yet seeing usage data in Heroku, so I'll submit a pull request with that info once we have it. |
We would also appreciate knowing the dyno-hours these rakes use. Thanks, roughani! |
I've been running A longer explanation: the 750 free dyno-hours/month you get for each Heroku app is enough to run one dyno continuously for almost the whole month. The CutePets rake tasks only take a few seconds, and your app can only be woken up by you or the scheduler (since there's no web site to serve). So you'd have to literally be nonstop tweeting to have a chance of incurring charges the way it's set up now. 🐰 |
@substars beat me to it. Here's our usage from January: 0.53 total hours. Obviously super-minimal. |
Lolz worries alleviated. Thanks, guys! |
Can this app be deployed on Heroku without incurring charges? We've got it up and running in Sacramento, but are trying to figure out if the Heroku Scheduler running hourly will put us past the 750 free dyno hours. Also, would be helpful to include this info in the README.
