ANDROID STUDIO sdk.ide.getDiff() Does NOT update

sdk.ide.getDiff();

works fine in VSCode, but in Android Studio I have to restart Android Studio every time to make the local git changes take affect.

Is there a way to manually trigger an update in code or maybe change some settings? I already tried a bunch of stuff to retrieve the git diff differently, but was not successful.
