Why not realtime, open, competitive forecasting?
It would be easy to set up something similar to this: http://dev.microprediction.org/stream_dashboard.html?stream=pandemic_infected (which uses https://pypi.org/project/pandemic/ so not real data, just an example) and have folks compete to predict. Various looping patterns could be used to trick algorithms into providing realtime forward looking predictions.
