What features do you want to see on the New Tab Page?

Here are some suggestions:

• Quick launch
  • Links to quickly go to websites
  • Make it so that you can go to these via the keyboard (e.g. using the number keys)
• Time
  • Use 24 hour time
  • Support multiple time zones if possible (although you and I use the same)
• Weather
  • Support different regions
  • Use minimal icons, maybe feather icons?
  • Just have the temperature in degrees celcius and farenheight for minimalism:

  • Complicated bloated UI gets my goat
  • Take inspiration from monkeytype
  • Allow solid colour, gradient, upload image, unsplash etc...
  • Cache images because slow loading also gets my goat

Maybe you can add sessions? Ok, hear me out! You can make it so the user can save browsing sessions. The user should be able to save as many sessions as he/she wants. And the user should be able to name sessions and set a colour for each one. The new tab page should contain shortcuts to the most recent 4 or 5 saved session, and another option to access the other sessions. When a session gets opened, its save files get deleted. And you could lock sessions, so they would not get deleted.
This would be a useful feature to have.

So like, if you wanted to do something school related, you could just open your school session and get started right away? Or if you wanted to watch Netflix, you could have a netflix session?

Custom iFrames, Multiple search engine dropdown, and twitter notifications

Similar to @ii-Python's suggestion, we could do iframes instead of dragging tabs onto the NTP. Search engines will be customisable and we'll look into the Twitter API for notifications.

Personally, I think there should be a very in-depth method of adding "widgets" to your new tab page. You would be able to drag a tab "onto" your new tab page and it would create a little box with its color revoloving around the websites theme-color attribute and easily allows you to go to it. So essentially bookmarks but bigger and then get pinned on your new tab page. (maybe even add some transparency)

That seems really hard to do, not sure how we can drag tabs into webpages. But I like the idea of being able to put tabs onto the NTP.

Make the ability to change the default search engine much more accessible than it is in firefox. I had no idea I could even set searx as my default engine because it wasn't listed in mozilla settings

You'll be able to change your search engine don't worry. If you use the NTP with Dot Browser, it'll automatically know your search engine preference from the settings.

Similar to Safari, where devices with Dot Browser signed in via DotID sync tabs automatically. When you open a new tab page, you are prompted with a set of tabs you can move to the currently in use device.
