Online Help:

The Election Polling Places application helps citizens locate their election polling place, comment on conditions at the polling place, and obtain information about current elected officials. This application is typically used by citizens during an election season, but can be used throughout the year to determine which elected official represents the precinct they reside in.

Using the Application

The Election Polling Places application offers a simple way for voters to find their election polling place. When a voter finds their address, the application will select the appropriate polling place and highlight it, along with the respective voting precinct, on the map. In addition, relevant information about that polling place and currently elected officials will be presented in a series of tabs at the bottom of the application.

Finding an Area of Interest

There are three primary ways to identify an area of interest. You can interact directly with the map and click on a address when you've located it. You can also use your current location or finally search for an address to find your polling place.

Map Based Navigation

There are several ways to interact with the map:

1. Use the basemap switcher (not available on smartphone) to select the basemap you'd like to interact with
2. Hold down the shift key and drag a box on the map to zoom in
3. Hold Down Ctrl+Shift to zoom out
4. Roll your mouse roller to zoom in/out
5. Drag the zoom slider to zoom in/out

Searching

The search box can be used to find an address:

1. Enter the address you're interested in
2. Click on the item in the list to locate the address on the map

Polling Place and Elected Official Information

After searching for a respective address, the polling place and voting precinct will be highlighted on the map. At the same time, relevant information will be presented in the Polling Place and Elected Officials tabs at the bottom of the application. In the Polling Place tab, you'll find:

1. The name of the polling place and its address
2. The hours of operations and any specific accomodations
3. Voter registration deadlines and the next election date
4. Contact information
5. A link to the official ballot
6. Directions to the polling place

In the Elected Officials tab, you'll find the following information for local, state and federal representatives:

1. The district name and identifier
2. A URL for the district website
3. The name of the representative(s) for the district

Submit Comments About Polling Place

Click on a polling place on the map to reveal the information popup. When you locate the polling place you'd like to comment on, click on the Comments button in the information popup to submit a comment on the polling place. You can also review comments that have been submitted previously by other citizens.

Click the Add Comment link in the information popup to add your own comment.

Share Your Map

You can click on the Share Map button to share your map several different ways. You can compose an email, post to your Facebook wall or post a Tweet. When you use the Facebook or Twitter links, you'll be asked to sign in to your respective account.

More Information
