From the perspective of journalistic content built using Fluid, we can foresee two broad types of “users”, as described below. Each is accompanied by a different set of assumptions in terms of, for example, technical proficiency/interest.
This discussion focuses on the “consumers” of the stories. See #8 for the discussion on “producers”.
Background
Readers of news stories will not expect to be exposed to the innards of the underlying technology. The visualisation will need to be fast-to-update, accessible and intuitive. It will need to work well on mobile devices, across operating systems and browsers.

One of the things we (@rolyp) and I have talked about is having written narrative (in a sidebar, for example) that responds to changes in data selection (in a plot or table).
