The drop down menus, such as streaming quality and language, cannot be changed in settings.
This is on a fedora 34 machine running Version 1.1.68.632.g2b11de83 of Spotify from flathub.

Do you mean those menus doesn't show up or have no effect? For me they do show up but I didn't test if they work.

I can reproduce this. It seems that this only occurs in the Wayland session. I'm also running Fedora 34 (Workstation).

I noticed something: when I double-click them very quickly, they show up. But this behavior doesn't occur in the Xorg session (just one click is necessary).

I mean the menus don't show up. I can see the streaming quality is set to "Automatic", but the drop-down menu does not appear when I click on it.

I can't replicate xfgusta's double-click method in my Wayland session.

I don't think anything could be done here. You may report it at https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Linux/bd-p/desktop_linux

Actually somebody reported it upstream and they got a workaround:

Point the mouse arrow on the specific menu and hit 'space'. It will drop down the menu.

Ugly and uncomfortable, but faster than logout and login on Xorg.

Yeah that works XD

But what is the root cause?

Still experiencing this problem in August 2022. I also noticed it works if you navigate with the keyboard, only with the mouse the dropdowns won't work.

I still have this issue as well on Fedora 37 Workstation on Wayland in Jan 2023. The workaround of hitting space while clicking is what I'm currently using.

Issue still present.

Fedora Linux 37, 6.1.18-200.fc37.x86_64
Flatpak 1.14.1
Spotify, com.spotify.Client, 1.1.84.716.gc5f8b819 stable, flathub system

@LukasMangold this is an upstream issue, so unless Spotify themselves fix it (try reporting on their forums), there is not much the packagers can do.
