Hello!I would like to ask you how the minimum and maximum period of the crop is determined in the Module 2 TSUM table? Winter wheat still needs to be overwintered and has 35+105 cycles, so how are its maximum and minimum cycles determined? Further Japonica wetland rice, a crop that does not require overwintering, has a period of 150, so how are its maximum and minimum periods determined? I am puzzled by this and very much look forward to your letter!
Best wishes

Hi @maobw12,

I don't know the exact method of determination of the minimum and maximum crop cycle length. As far as I've known, the determination depends of crop type, climate and local circumstances, which will affect total growing period and individual growth stages.
Reference: https://www.fao.org/3/S2022E/s2022e07.htm#3.2.2%20determination%20of%20the%20total%20growing%20period

At the moment, I can send out the reference information from ECOCROP for winter wheat and japonica rice which provides minimum and maximum cycle length.

Japonica rice:https://ecocrop.review.fao.org/ecocrop/srv/en/dataSheet?id=10591
Winter wheat: https://ecocrop.review.fao.org/ecocrop/srv/en/dataSheet?id=2114

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Swun Wunna Htet
