burst of static after preroll (formats match)

Hi Karl, hope you're doing well. (I'm a blast from your Radionomy past!)
My stream is using Icecast 2.4.0-kh22. Format is 128kbps MP3
After the preroll, I'm sometimes hearing a burst of static before the stream starts. The bitrate/format of the preroll file matches the stream.
My streaming provider says " it will help to put 1-2 seconds of silence at the end of the preroll."
Can you confirm why this would make a difference? Thanks!
