The buttons work, but not the stick. On version 0.267-u2. Love Mame/Ample though.

Why do you think it doesn't work?

Why do you think it doesn't work?

I have the HYPERKEN TROOPER2 Premium Controller/Joystick for the PC/ Mac/ Raspberry Pi and other game controllers that work with My 2018 Mac mini running Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina and the latest GSPlus emulator and I have no problems with the them working with this emulator, both the sticks and buttons work. I'm hoping Its just me and the Ample setting and that some one can help me. I have the Apple II Analog Joystick Driver selected in the Game I/O selector, but only the buttons on the controllers work. Am I missing something. I looked in the Releases and learned that one of the releases Prior to this release was an Apple IIgs Joystick Fixed note. I much rather use Ample for all my use.
Thanks for any help.

If you press delete (enable ui), tab, input settings, input assigment for this machine, what do the joystick settings show?

I just noticed that for the IIc/IIc+/IIgs (but not the IIe...) MAME likes to skip over player 1. (The A2 joystick renames X/Y so they names show up correctly but didn't rename the buttons. The Apple II paddles don't do any renaming so it's more obvious)

in this IIgs screenshot you can see it refers to P2 buttons 1/2 and the x/y are not set

but for the IIe, it refers to P1 buttons and the default x/y for joystick 1 are populated:

So you may need to teach it new x/y and buttons. I did that once, long ago, and didn't realize it was an issue.

I see what you mean, it's like the first screenshot, but the buttons are right for me. I tried to teach the x/y axis's
but its not right. I get response from the stick now though but I think I need the procedure for the stick (x/y) to teach it (up/down left/right) (upperleft/lowerright) I don't know I tried those but its not quite right. If you know the procedure I would greatly it if you can post it here.
