How to change mobile device

At Mattermost, we are using our mobile devices daily at work. This how-to document provides guidance on what steps you need to take when planning to migrate to a new phone.

NOTE: If you’ve lost your mobile phone, please refer to the How To Handle a Lost Mobile Device guide.

GSuite Two-Factor Authentication

If you use GSuite two-factor authentication, please follow these steps:

  1. Open https://myaccount.google.com/security
  2. Click 2-Step Verification
  3. You will be prompted to log in again to prove your identity
  4. Click on Change Phone and follow the provided steps
  5. (Optional) If you’ve changed your phone number, update the phone number in the Google Security Center as well

OneLogin Two-Factor Authentication

If you use OneLogin two-factor authentication, please follow these steps:

  1. Open https://mattermost.onelogin.com/
  2. Log in with your OneLogin credentials
  3. Click on your name in the top right and select Profile
  4. Press the small plus on the right-hand side next to 2-Factor Authentication
  5. Depending on the two-factor method you are using:
    1. Google Authenticator
      1. Select Choose Vendor in Google Authenticator
      2. Enter the Name "Mattermost OneLogin"
      3. Scan the barcode with the Google Authenticator app on your phone
      4. Enter the security code shown on your mobile phone to finish the setup
    2. OneLogin Protect
      1. Select Choose Vendor in OneLogin Protect
      2. Select your device type
      3. Open the mobile app and scan the bar code
      4. Follow the instructions on your mobile phone
  6. Remove the old two-factor device using the “Revoke” button next to it on your OneLogin profile
