Custom Skins/Themes

Does anyone know if the screen icon can be moved. I kind of have a grasp on how the skins work. But I cannot locate the file that tells what and where everything goes on the screen. I will share some screenshots of what I've done so far with skins for the unit and what I'm looking to do.

I don't know a method to actually shift images in the skins. You can only change them but they'll stay in the same place.

I have decompiled the viewhandler of a couple of skin versions and MIBHMI to java files (unfortunately not all). If it helps, I can share (hundreds of java classes and no descriptions).

Thank you, i decompiled the jar files for the seat_zr_479. Do you happen to know where the mapping is for the buttons?

Unfortunately not. My interest was to understand the differences in the skins of PQ and ZR. But I didn't get any further than unpacking.

Did you with the extraction of jxe files, everythime inserted the name of the file and started the tool over and over? Or is there a one way click for it..

This is awesome! Can you please share a little bit more of information? Where the file is located, how to decompile it, how to put it back together? I found stuff that relates to SportHMI and max power, Boost pressure, buttons mapping, RVC warnings. Would be awesome to try if one could adjust those options.

@KamboSoup, did you find a way to upload skins into a DM PQ US firmware/device? I´m on MST2_US_VW_PQ_P0478T version with no luck with the Toolbox or SD Patch to uplaod the EU skins around the mib site, am I missing something?

You have a US unit and want to upload UE skin to the unit? Dont think that's possible thru toolbox. You would have to use the "online approval update" tool to update the full HMI folder to use UE skins in a US unit. You'll lose XM and HD radio as those are not supported in the UE units

activating telnet with toolbox and do it via that would also be possible if you know what you're doing.

I think I will end up converting the unit to EU, I do not use XM at all, and there so few HD stations around where I live.
My ultimate goal really is to have the CAR icon on the Menu, not the skins at all.
