Auto-Refreshing the Asset/Object tree?

Hey,
is there a way to auto-refresh the asset tree? We have a command that processes assets which are uploaded into certain folders, and moves them to other folders. It is quite confusing for users to have to manually "Refresh" the tree each time before they see what the results of the processing were.
Ideally, I want to refresh the tree every x seconds, or, even better, based on a server-side event, even though I assume that is not possible with the current backend architecture.
