I understand it's not intended to work this way but the old autosplitter did. So if you get around to it, please try to find a solution.
To launch Portal 2 and LiveSplit in the same prefix, I use SteamTinkerLaunch and its "Fork custom command"

Switching from native to Proton is a nightmare for me because of client bugs in Steam. I honestly expect ASR version to work the same way as the old AutoSplitter but LiveSplit does not guarantee that it works with Proton.

However, I can only think about two workarounds for now:

  • Install the old AutoSplitter which you can download here
  • Install Portal 2 native if possible and use obs-livesplit-one. This requires to launch Portal 2 from the obs plugin via bash as program and /path/to/portal2.sh -game portal2 ... as arguments etc. Just make sure that portal2.sh can indeed be launched via bash.

Thanks for the answer. I will keep using the old autosplitter for now and hope it gets sorted some time in the future
