Fluidity Calculator for ImageJ/Fiji

This is an ImageJ/Fiji macro tool to calculate membrane fluidity values (aka GP) from spectral imaging or two-channel microscopy data. Developed by Pablo Carravilla at the CSI:Nano lab at SciLifeLab and the Karolinska Institute.

The tool provides a user-friendly graphical interface to calculate GP (membrane fluidity) values directly in ImageJ/Fiji.

Installation Instructions Tutorial Video

  1. Download 'Fluidity Calculator': Code --> Download ZIP

  2. Install Fiji.

  3. Find your Fiji installation directory and go to the macros/toolsets folder.

    Mac OS:

    Right click on Fiji in the Applications folder -> Show Package Contents

    or

    Go to this path: /Applications/Fiji.app/macros/toolsets

    Windows:

    It depends where you extracted the program when you downloaded it.

  4. Delete any older version if you installed one in the past.

  5. Copy the macro file 'Fluidity Calculator v2.0.ijm' in the toolsets folder.

  6. Copy the 'icons' folder in the toolsets folder.

  7. (Optional) Copy the 'gp-viridis.lut' in the Fiji directory luts folder. Mac OS: /Applications/Fiji.app/luts

  8. Open Fiji.

  9. Click in the More Tools button on the Toolbar, that is the right most icon of a double arrow (>>).

  10. A new icon will appear in your toolbar, after opening an image click on it to launch the tool.
