How i can change theme to white on 5.0.0 qbittorrent?

Hey, i updated qbittorrent and theme became black, but i want change it back to white. How i can do it?

update with solution:
i added to qt.conf file in qbittorrent folder string below and saved file and it's worked:
WindowsArguments = darkmode=0

so its looks like:
[Paths]
Translations = translations

[Platforms]
;WindowsArguments = dpiawareness=1
WindowsArguments = darkmode=0

Currently the quickest is to downgrade, use a custom UI theme file or change your OS theme settings and qBittorrent v5+ will change theme automatically.

To customize Windows 10 & 11 theme:

1. Select Start > Settings or Right-click on your Desktop empty area.
2. Select Personalization > Colors.
3. In the list for Choose your mode, select it to be Custom, Light or Dark.

If you want to modify default qBit UI or use theme files, then:

1. Open qBittorrent > Tools > Options
2. Choose if you want to use a custom theme file or select Customizing UI Theme...

If you dislike using custom UI theme files to switch between Light or Dark, then change your OS settings and qBittorrent v5+ will automatically switch to be similar to native system theme.

If you or anyone else wants more settings and theme related options to be built-in to qBittorrent, then you should create a new feature request.

There's another way to force qBittorrent to be in Light.

For those that don't want qBittorrent v5 to automatically switch to Dark "App" mode, here are some choices:

1. Personalisation->Colours->Choose your color->Custom->Choose your default app mode->Light
   

2. Modify qt.conf file with WindowsArguments = darkmode=0 (this will disable qBittorrent's dark "app" mode support.)

I encountered an issue when trying to save the qt.conf file, as I didn't have permission to save a file in that directory. I'm an admin and the only user in my machine, so I don't really understand.

You need to right-click on Notepad and select to run as admin to save edits to certain folders, otherwise too easy to get silent or accidentally malicious changes.

Alternatively you can edit with Notepad or any other text editor without admin rights, just save a copy of the file somewhere else, like on your Desktop, then drag'n'drop or copy paste modified file, then File Explorer will show dialog window asking to select Admin button before allowing to replace files.

If you don't wish to constantly edit that file or prefer old look, then you could just install v5.0.1, open options and change Qt style from Fusion to be WindowsVista, then exit and reopen qBittorrent.

Otherwise whenever v5.1 gets released, it should include extra built-in settings to force qBittorrent to be in light or dark mode, no clue if v5 series will get more theme related options backported.

Oh, it's sad it's forced theme change...
about customs - i not sure if it compatible with 5.0.0
And yes, i not want change windows theme, so editing qt.conf in application folder helped me, thanks!

Your issue should have been made as a separate discussion and if you wish for more options to be added to qBittorrent, then a separate feature requests needs to be made to someday be able to override automatic theme.

If using Windows, then quickest row colors changing is done if you open Settings > Personalization > Colors > Accent color < there you pick a color you like and Automatic will be changed to Manual.

So whenever you change colors or other Windows related theme settings, you should see that qBit has changed something immediately.

well the web version is completly broken in dark mode, cant even read the damn text

just add a force normal mode please.

Uninstalled 5.0. Back to 4.5. The dark mode is not for me but even worse, for some reason, the file names of torrent downloads do not appear in full. So I do not know which is which when I want to be selective of which files to exclude. 4.5 was working flawlessly for me and do not feel like tinkering with 5.0 to get it to conform to my preferences.

Old v4.5 has too many bugs. Those issues you had with v5 are easily and quickly fixable and shouldn't resurface, unless you downgrade again or maybe whenever newer qBittorrent starts to use Qt 7+ instead of current default Qt 6+.

The dark mode is not for me.

Install v5.0.1, open options, change default Qt Fusion style to be what was used in older versions: WindowsVista, restart client and you shouldn't see any more Windows OS native automatic dark mode theme support.

Latest development nightly builds of qBittorrent even allow to use more modern Qt style and includes extra built-in theme options to force qBittorrent to run with dark or light theme if you really dislike modifying current OS settings.

The file names of torrent downloads do not appear in full.

Right-click on any column, select to resize columns and all columns will automatically expand to fit content. Otherwise left-click on column separator and hold button while moving mouse to left or right to resize only 1 column.

If that didn't help, then you might be using outdated or incompatible custom theme file or you just might need to exit qBittorrent and edit or delete preferences file, then reopen qBittorrent to get latest recommended default settings.

Because old v4.5 series had multiple installer choice if qBittorrent is built with Qt 5.15+ or Qt 6 and unfortunately switching between them doesn't delete or override incompatible theme related lines and many users who experienced various issues with Qt 6 builds got things resolved by just deleting Qt 5 related lines or something else in the preferences file.

People can already choose and have more options than previously.

If you don't like using custom theme file, editing qt configuration file, modifying Windows settings or have found issues and want other way to make the currently the latest qBittorrent v5.0.3 to look more like v4.6.x, then open qBittorrent > Tools > Options > Change Qt Style from default to WindowsVista, click apply, exit and reopen qBittorrent. If want more native modern look, then try v5.1.0 and you should see more built-in options to force qBit to be in Light or Dark theme.

I did this per the instructions for changing back to light theme

but that did not work either as the program automatically changes it back to default and can't get a light theme

Try latest stable version v5.0.3 built-in settings > open qBit > Tools > Options > change Qt Style from default to what previous v4 used: WindowsVista style click apply, exit and reopen qBittorrent.

If you prefer more modern native OS look, then use try v5.1.0beta1, it has extra options to force light or dark mode.

Sorry didnt have time to check all replies, but does latest version still default to dark theme? I know you can change it but I dont want to have to go through various steps to do so. Call me lazy or whatever but I just prefer light by default with no extra steps. Like it was before v5. Still on version 4.xx because of this.

@Qwak66 Depends, because if your system has dark mode enabled, then qBittorrent v5.0+ will automatically be dark.

If want qBittorrent v5.0+ to look more like previous versions, then there's built-in option to choose Qt style, instead of default Fusion, select windowsvista, click apply, exit and reopen qBittorrent. Otherwise have to manually edit preferences file or Qt configuration, depending on what qBittorrent version you use.

If want extra qBit built-in option to force white or dark theme support and to use more modern Qt styles, then you have to use qBittorrent v5.1+.
