How should I recover a drive that was corrupted by qBittorrent legacy Portable #21672

Not enough info, so nobody knows what good or bad drives exactly you got or what's their life expectancy or if anything is even recoverable. I doubt unofficial old qBittorrent is the only cause of your drives failures. Causing stress and high temperature with any software doesn't always mean that you can fix or bypass file errors or hardware failures with another software. If computer can recognize drives, then you can try to use CrystalDiskInfo to see drives temperature, exact model name, littlebit of their specifications and health status. There's a lot of free, cheap or pointlessly expensive software that you'll need to experiment yourself which ones are able to recover deleted files, partitions or from file block errors. If computer can't recognize, then there's no software available to easily get back any data. So you might need to research a lot and open up drives in a completely dust free clean room to do various tests and experiments. So it might be safer, a lot quicker or easier if you just unplug drives, save up a lot of money and find a trustworthy experienced specialist to recover as much data as possible into another drive if you really do want to try to get back anything. If Windows built-in Disk Manager or Device Manager doesn't recognize any drives and motherboards BIOS doesn't show anything either then you might have faulty SATA or Power Cable or drives controllers need replacement because of low quality components, old age, humidity, high or too low temperature or excess stress. If you ever buy any new drives, then make sure your drives and computer case does have proper constant ventilation, cables plugged correctly and then regularly keep backups, because there's no real guarantee that it's cheap or easy to recover or be able to avoid any new sudden file corruption or data loss. If you mainly download things, then get a drive that uses CMR and if want to use multiple drives 24/7, then get NAS drives. Many cheaper drives use SMR or their manufacturer has officially written that some drives life expectancy hours are very low. Drives with SMR technology can cause sudden delays and extra stress if you try to constantly write or modify too many or very big files, only good use is if mostly use these for reading files, then again need to allow idle time to have drive sort data properly, then defragment files and trim free space often enough to lessen any burden after writing any new data. If you format current or new drives, then on Windows OS it's best to use NTFS file system and in Disk Manager make sure your drives partition table is more modern GPT instead of old MBR. |

Thank you so much!
It can but it reports bad sectors and I fogot to add but it says also says there was "controller error" with the newer drive. I did use CrystalDiskInfo and it reports warning after the incident in the old drive.
Well the timing at least was exact right after running the legacy version in both cases. Question: is of any use to send the config of my qBitTorrent? but I think is a bad idea because it can corrupt testers drives? |

Ok here it goes: qBittorrent.txt in order to test: rename the uploaded .txt file to .ini and add it in this path : \qBittorrentPortableLegacyWin7\Data\settings\AppData_qBittorrent\qBittorrent.ini Also I vaguely remember I changed some settings under Connection Limits IIRC and set it to no limits but it wasn't the throttle.. but I don't remember correctly. Update : I removed the paths with *** they may have to be replaced? |

Hi, I'm a bit worried, because I ran the PortableApps package with legacy version which is 4.5.5 and it corrupted a drive (grinding noise and bad sectors in event viewer). So the first time it happened I was like ok maybe I stressed too much the drive, but I wondered whether it could be due by a bug. Well I ran again qBittorrent months later and it corrupted another drive, so the question is how can I repair those drives and that is why I'm posting here.
If it was caused by a software bug then the chances to repair them are higher too? can be fixed perhaps by a software?
