Torrents with large piece sizes error out with "Errored: invalid metadata received from swarm" or "Add torrent failed: Couldn't add torrent <file path>" #22132

qBittorrent & operating system versions

qBittorrent: 5.0.3 x64
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro for Workstations x64 10.0.19045 Build 19045

What is the problem?

When some torrents are added they do not work. If added via magnet link their status is "Downloading metadata". After a while the status changes to "Errored: invalid metadata received from swarm". If I download the corresponding .torrent file and add it to qBittorrent, then I get a popup at the bottom right in Windows saying "Add torrent failed" and under that "Couldn't add torrent ". There is something after the filepath but I don't know what because it cuts off.

Expected behavior: It works like all other torrents as in down- and uploading.

OS update, restart and reinstall of qBittorrent didn't help.

I contacted the creater of the torrents where this happens (some of his torrents work some don't). He said to try those that don't work with a different torrent client. Result: in Tixati it works. He speculated that it has probably to do with "large piece sizes".

Steps to reproduce

Install aBittorrent.
Add a torrent with "large piece size". (I would send a .torrent and/or magnet link as an example per E-Mail if requested)
See it error out.

And is there a plan to start supporting it? Or will I just forever have to use a different torrent client for these torrents?
And thx for your reply ofc

You need to submit a feature request to https://github.com/arvidn/libtorrent

Also see #21011 arvidn/libtorrent#7735

You can try the qbit build with lt2.0.
