This year, we are actually starting earlier. GitHub is contracting us now and we are a team of 8 currently making the first assets and conceptioning it. This year we will improve upon the feedback from last year by for example allowing private contributions to be visualized.

Right now this is more of a private process, but we will open-source the repo in December.
What kind of features would you wish for?

@JonnyBurger Maybe we can include hacktoberfest this time? For those who participated we can maybe give them a trophy/achievement? Maybe we can also include the public GitHub achievements.

@JoshuaBehrens We've already finalized the storyboard and decided on the scenes for this year.
Hacktoberfest is unfortunately not one of them (I think it will apply to too few users), but we are planning to include a special scene for sponsors this year!

I'll explore the achievements but it is not planned at the moment.

I'm just thinking about it since we can log into it (GitLab) with our GitHub account.

We are in the GitHub community and this year even paid by GitHub.
Not that we are prevented from doing it, but imagine us supporting other providers, that would be like Spotify Wrapped supporting Apple Music 😁

That being said, it will be open source in a few days and we'd welcome the project being re-used if someone takes the initiative!

We were very busy with other projects and it is kind of late to start now.

Would love to do it again next year, for this year I am probably just going to update the code to say 2024.
