Adding Custom TopNav buttons.

Hello all. I'm looking for an extra brain who might be able to either point me in a right direction or have a resource that might help me with a situation.

I've been attempting to modify a base szuru to have some extra custom pages that can be accessed by a top navigation button that leads to a basic page to write a few words on.

So far I have edited the TopNav.js to accommodate the button, the main.js to recognize the controllers and view.js files made for this page, and a .tpl file has been made for this extra page. The build recognized the new button but so far it doesn't do anything when clicked and I'm at my wits end on why it couldn't be working. And leads on how to solve this would be most appreciated.
