Ability to use a non-https link

When I try to update the link for an entry with a protocol other than https://, I get an "Failed to update record" error when trying to save. Is there a reason the link field is restricted to (what looks like) only http/https or can it be updated to allow for any protocol?

My use case is a RustDesk link, so the link would be rustdesk://123456789.
