The extreme competition observed between researchers now has a lot of detrimental consequences. Imagine two scientists in different places around the globe working competitively on the same project rather than collaborating. Eventually one may be faster and 'scoop' the other by publishing first. This led to the 'loser' having lost time, money and energy. Another scenario may involve one of the scientists rushing to publish before their competitor and involuntary not completely adhering to good scientific practice producing research that might not be reproducible rather than having a strong collaborative project with their 'competitor'. How can we develop a system to avoid such competition in science and allow for a more open and collaborative research that works together for the good of human race?
How can funding organizations contribute to such an initiative? Would an online platform where each scientist clearly mentions the projects they are working on help?

How can others contribute?

I am looking forward to discuss with the attendees potential solutions and ideas to help supporting more open and collaborative research environment globally. I have google document where we can start the discussion: https://docs.google.com/document/d/101lY4kvMJYBFRXGt1aIfPw4xrZT17Uoixq3mRfgvtNQ
