For your first issue, are you attached to the same tmux server from another client? The "size 179x17 from a smaller client" message in the bottom right indicates there's another client attached that has a smaller window size, which is why the contents of the screen look cut off.
For the second issue, can you try adding set -g mouse on to your tmux config (.tmux.conf in your home directory by default)? This issue can appear when trying to scroll with a mouse without this flag enabled.
