[Screen Drift] Screen Positioning Drift in Rokid Max #27
Comments
Unfortunately drift will never be 100% solved for any of these devices, but the Rokid devices should be pretty stable. What version of the plugin are you on? |
Unfortunately, I found that without Android, I have no way to check my Rokid Max firmware version. I have reason to believe it's the initial release version 0.23. Meanwhile, XR-Gaming is at version 0.11.1.6, and the Steam Deck is running SteamOS Holo 3.5.19. |
I'm seeing a similar behavior with mine where my virtual screen drifts to the right. I need to recenter every 5 minutes. |
@wheaney I never really worked with XR positional data myself but what stops you from implementing a customizable high-pass filter to swallow noise? As long as you make these user-configurable most users should be able to find their own sweet spot, allowing them to minimize drift. |
The unfortunate thing about filtering noise is that some portion of the noise will be valid, important positional data. By filtering out valid movement data, you'll actually cause more screen drift, probably worse than the drift you're trying to fix. The most important key to fixing horizontal drift is to apply magnetometer data that's currently being ignored. I've reached out to Rokid devs to see if they can work with me to apply a magnetometer calibration step, so we'll see if that goes anywhere. |
Description:
I have encountered a screen drifting issue with my Rokid Max device. The screen seems to have shifted from its original position and is no longer aligned properly. I have previously learned that this issue is present in XREAL devices, but it appears that a similar problem is also happening with Rokid Max.
Steps to Reproduce:
Expected Behavior:
The screen should remain fixed and stable in the original position without any visible drift during usage.
Actual Behavior:
The screen slowly drifts from the original position, causing misalignment and requiring constant adjustments to return it to the correct position.
Environment:
Additional Information:
Any guidance on whether this is a firmware bug, tracking issue, or a limitation of the device’s capabilities would be appreciated. I would also like to know if there are any workarounds or planned fixes for this issue.
