Issues

When trying to load - Gray screen, alot of kernal asserts, black screen and finally endless kernal asserts.
Tags: state-load/state-crash
Able to get to gameplay but 3D graphics won't render at all and the UI is broken - right side of the screen is garbage.
Sometimes it is able to go to shop stage then it crashes and some times it crashes right in the characters dialogue.
In menu: All options except starting the game will result xenia to crash.
Game require save profile to pass the title screen.

• Main menu UI is full drawn (no garbage).
• Able to get to gameplay but 3D graphics is really broken (won't render most of stuff, DirectX 12 API).
• With vulkan API, I was able to finish the first day (aka get to the hotel room), then the game crashes. No 3D render at all, except in watercraft race, some of the water are drawn.
• Swiching back to DirectX 12, with the current save, I was able to go to bed and start the 2nd day. 3D graphics is completely garbage.
• Able to get to the Accessories Shop and buy something, then it crashes.
• Dialog subtitles are delayed sometimes.
• In main menu: Xbox Live option just make the game stuck on a beach broken animation (As said, most 3D graphics won't render), not able to get back to main menu.
• In main menu: Precious Memories option will lead to a broken draw dairy (With vulkan it's ok), trying to return to the main main will crash Xenia.
• In main menu: Options will crash Xenia.
• Game require save profile to pass the title screen, afaik, doesn't really matter if it's from actual hardware/Xenia generated.

For those who really want to play the game, download PPSSPP (PSP emulator) and Dead or Alive Paradise. It's basically the same game just with 2 extra characters.

As for the game itself, you most likely won't pass the title screen, and it will just crash/hang. The 2016's version (3d1d4de) is the last known version to get to actual gameplay (and you won't really progress, as it crashes/hangs after you choose your character and the dialog begins; dunno if it's for all the characters, need to check).

I can confirm that on the newest June release of xenia I can pass the title screen. I also get to actual gameplay, but its black. Only the characters chat can be seen everything else is black. After some chatting the game crashes

Issues

Main Menu:

• World is finally 3D rendered correctly (mostly), few glitches here and there (birds don't render correctly).
• After about 20 seconds the rendering is messedup again.
• Travel To New Zack Island (starting gameplay) will start the game.
• Xbox Live will make the menu dissappere and makes it impossible to return to main menu.
• Precious Memories will pop up a messedup menu, returning back to main menu will crash the game.
• Options will crash the game.
• Game require save profile to pass the title screen, afaik, doesn't really matter if it's from actual hardware/Xenia generated.

Gameplay:

• 3D render is messedup again and won't work (D3D12).
• Huge FPS drops in Day 1, FPS will be back to normal after entering the shop and vice versa.
• You can skip all Day 1 activies (after buying stuff from the shops) via pause menu.
• Pause menu works correctly.
• Returning to title screen will messup the 3d render.
• Game is technically playable.
• Apart from the main menu rendering and being able to go to day 2 (not tested afterwards), not really much changed from the last update.

Many thanks to this F5 tip，and currently if using gpu=vulkan there will be nothing displayed but the voice is working.

Vulkan is obsolete, don't use it.

i was dreaming to play this game for over 10 years and now i see this graphics problems sadly :( maybe i still need to wait more years to be able to fully play it

I hope Microsoft add this game to the xbox backwards compatibility list but they said this service will update no more :(
I want to change the language options but as mentioned above it crashed the game so I hope one day it will be fully playable :(

Unfortunately, I think Microsoft did not add this game or the first one to the backwards compatible list due to the music licensing. Fortunately, the first one runs great on PC via CXBX. Hopefully later versions of Xenia will get this running SOONER rather than later...

It runs ok on Series X but the graphical issues still need to be addressed.

hello there i tested on (@3d30b2eec on May 25 2024) as what version describe itself still rendering problems there F5 needed every section so i wonder if there would be any possible fix at any time
