Creating new database

Hello Developers,

Thank you for melon,

I am working on nanopore shotgun metagenomics data and i am using melon.

I want to include fungii and virus genomes as well in the analysis as currently, your database supports only prokaryotes(bacteria and archaea) as far as i understand.

Is there a way to construct custom database? Can you share me command?

Hi,

unfortunately Melon cannot classify fungi/virus as it is built on prokaryotic marker genes.

You may consider using non-marker profilers like Kraken2/Centrifuger for non-prokaryotes.
