Demaster not working on EU version with language set to JP

Hello, I stumbled upon this and wondering if this is a supported scenario. I have a legitimate copy of the steam version, my region is Italy. But I want to play it in Japanese.

I tried the EU build first, but it would refuse to boot saying I need to apply the Japanese files.

I tried the JP build but it wouldn't work at all, and I got the same issue as this: #55. Using the original launcher doesn't work for me, because it still looks for the FFVIII.exe file.

Needless to say, the launchers work perfectly fine when I do not choose the Japanese language.

Does your Steam game folder come with FFVIII_JP.dll?
So if you go to launcher and set the text settings to 日本語, then apply the ff8_demaster.dll for japanese (ff8_demaster comes with two different versions. One of EFIGS and one for JP) it still doesn't work?
The original launcher should start the FFVIII.exe with jp parameter.
What exactly happens when you try to use the original launcher?

Yes, my steam game folder comes with that DLL.

If I apply the procedure for the EFIGS without replacing the launcher, and then swap the japanese dll afterwards it works! Do I miss any functionality if I use the original launcher?

Only the pre-game settings, but you can still set the resolution, audio and etc. with in-game menu by pressing ESC.
